Bal Melava

Balmelava—an annual children’s festival, is an event concluding the year’s Vikaspremi Shala Campaign which was initiated in the month of August 2018.

The campaign’s goal was to include school children in hygiene and sanitation issues in schools and at village level. The schools’ Vikas Doots (“Messengers of Development”) and Bal Panchayats (Children’s Council)—replete with cabinet of ministers responsible for school development—took initiatives in addressing various water, sanitation, and hygiene issues faced by the children and engaged with the elders of the community to provide the necessary facilities at the school and village level. The event aims at felicitating the students, teachers and their schools for their efforts and have a day where they let their hair down and celebrate!
